Personal:

I'm a happily married guy with a 5 year old son. I started running on February 1st, 2010 with the goal of completing a triathlon (my one and only "official" race prior to that was the "Centerville half mile fun run" when I was about 8) In that following year I lost nearly 50 lbs, completed the triathlon, numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, bike races, and really started to lean towards running over the other two (though I still cross train with both).

I grew up hiking and riding horses in the mountains, so I've been drawn to take my running to the trails - and haven't looked back! I run them every chance I get, which is about 90% of the time!

Got a call from a buddy at the end of the work day saying "Dude, lets go for a run". I tell him I don't have any of my stuff with me, but if he can get his hands on some shoes, socks, shorts and a shirt, I can go. I kind of thought that would end it, but he was able to pull through and come up with all of it (helps when you run a shoe company I guess). With it being 5-6 o'clock and him not being a regular trail runner, I just assumed we'd be looking at a 7-10 miler on the Wasatch Crest...It wasn't until after we had dropped my car that I started asking questions, and realized that he had a 20 or so miler planned...From Guardsman to Dog Lake, Mill A ending in Neffs. Yeah, I kind of had my doubts that we'd have enough time, but we were already on our way so I figured we'd give it a go. Suffice it to say, his plans were a little more ambitious than he had anticipated, and we ended up on Mill A above Butler fork at about 9:30 realizing that we just wouldn't have time to go the whole way. He called Jun for some 'advice' but the first thing Jun said was "Do you guys need me to come and pick you up?" - what a guy - so we took him up on the offer and made our way to Butler fork. By the time we got to the downhill, it was completely dark. I had no headlamp (since I figured we were only going a few miles) so it was super sketchy, but the trail isn't too bad so I made it through without eating it. Met up with Craig a while later at Butler and he drove us back to Guardsman to get one car, then we drove to get mine and then it was finally off to home. Got home about midnight.

While it was longer and later than I was planning, I sure do love that trail. You can't beat the views and we had a great time.
