Personal:

I'm a happily married guy with a 5 year old son. I started running on February 1st, 2010 with the goal of completing a triathlon (my one and only "official" race prior to that was the "Centerville half mile fun run" when I was about 8) In that following year I lost nearly 50 lbs, completed the triathlon, numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, bike races, and really started to lean towards running over the other two (though I still cross train with both).

I grew up hiking and riding horses in the mountains, so I've been drawn to take my running to the trails - and haven't looked back! I run them every chance I get, which is about 90% of the time!

I've had this nagging pain in my upper calf/back of my knee that I've been trying to get healed up for over a month now, so I thought I'd take a few days off running to see if it helps. Decided to do a quick 12 miles on the bike trainer while my wife ran next to me on the treadmill. I'm wondering if the strain might have come from riding my bike rather than running, as the pain seemed to be fairly pronounced (although now, the day after, it may be feeling a little better than it has...who knows). Did an all out sprint for the last half mile, thought I might tip the whole trainer over I was pedaling so hard, felt like I was going to puke afterwards. Gotta make those quick workouts count I guess. Did some easy spinning to cool down and walked a quarter mile on the TM. My parents just gave us a TV as an early Christmas present, which meant that the old one could come to the basement with the TM and bike. Made it SO much better to have something to watch.

Remember when you weren't injured and could run? Those were the good old days.

That sucks! Good luck with your knee.
