Personal:

I'm a happily married guy with a 5 year old son. I started running on February 1st, 2010 with the goal of completing a triathlon (my one and only "official" race prior to that was the "Centerville half mile fun run" when I was about 8) In that following year I lost nearly 50 lbs, completed the triathlon, numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, bike races, and really started to lean towards running over the other two (though I still cross train with both).

I grew up hiking and riding horses in the mountains, so I've been drawn to take my running to the trails - and haven't looked back! I run them every chance I get, which is about 90% of the time!

AM: 6.2 slow miles with a friend on the road in Farmington. Nothing too exciting. Hoping to get another 5 or 6 on a trail this afternoon.

PM: Added 5 miles on the BST in Kaysville. Pretty muddy and slushy, but the sun was out (at least I think it was - hard to tell through all the crud in the air) so it was a nice run. I pushed the pace a little on the way back, I wanted to see if I could end up with the same pace as the road run this morning. Came within 5 seconds.

We talked about you today.....in a good way! Just thought I would say HI. Are you doing the 50k on Antelope Island? Are you thinking of doing any of the training runs out there?

From Dorsimus on Sat, Jan 29, 2011 at 21:14:36 from 75.162.131.92

Well hello! Ha, you never can tell what Craig might say. Yep, the 50K is the plan! We'll see how it goes. Craig and I ran most of the first loop back in November, but I'd for sure like to get out there a few times beforehand.

Feb 12th is the next run they have planned (but I am sure anyone can go whenever, right? I would need help so I would not get lost). I need to get out there to get over my fear of Buffalo and learn to run on trails without breaking my behind. Hopefully there will be no mud...such a girl!!

Hey, what is Utah's toughest 10k? I need to make sure I DO NOT sign up!

From Dorsimus on Sat, Jan 29, 2011 at 21:32:38 from 75.162.131.92

Yes, you can pretty much go out there anytime. If you want we can get Craig and whoever else and go out there on a Saturday morning or something (I think we were planning on that a few weeks ago, eh?) The 25K loop gives you a pretty good look at the place.

The Toughest 10K is really about like any trail run-I think if you ran strictly on the roads and then ran that it would be pretty tough. A big climb to start and then rolling hills and a bunch of downhill. Its at Soldier Hollow in Midway so its quite a pretty run. They call it a "Trail Race" but its almost like dirt roads/mowed weeds the whole time. I'll probably do it again this year, mainly because I want to try and crush my time :) (I hadn't really been trail running much when I ran it last year).

Sounds tough to me...I am not so good at any kind of BIG CLIMB, but I like rolling hills just fine! Maybe someone can carry me to top, then I can finish the race?!?

Yeah, we did try to plan it a few weeks ago but life got in the way! We are planning on the 12th for sure but could go pretty much any other Saturday as well. Like I said, I need practice (so that Craig does not bound away from me!)

Well hey chatty chattersons. We should go out there. I can't the 12th because I have scout camp that morning, but we should definitely plan another day, maybe the week after. I would like to go next week, but I think I might be up in Midway at the Wasatch 100 Lottery that day. If I don't go up there maybe we should think about that. One of the times we could run the out and back trail on the east side. something to think about.

Nice miles today. I should have thought to invite you up to Grandeur.

I want to go run out there too.

From Kelli on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 09:59:51 from 71.219.84.215

Chatty chattersons? I have never heard that before!

I am going to go on the 12th for sure (unless the weather is really bad), but I will gladly go any other weekend as well (aside from Feb 25th, I will be in AZ).

What do you do at the lottery? Just wait for your name? I should have you listen for my SIL and text me if she gets in. She really wants to do it. How many put in and how many get chosen?

From jun on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 10:18:32 from 66.239.250.209

Kelli, I have no idea what goes on at the lottery. I assume we just sit there and hope our name gets called. I'm nervous, for sure. And from what I understand about 400 usually put in with about 260ish being selected or something like that. People tell me the chances are usually pretty good. I'm still nervous.

From Kelli on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 13:12:33 from 71.219.84.215

I hope you get in, it is a race I would love to help be part of a pace group and after last weekend run I KNOW you would want me on your team!!!! My SIL informed me she already had a team if she gets in and did not need my services. I will pay you to listen for her name for me!
