Personal:

I'm a happily married guy with a 5 year old son. I started running on February 1st, 2010 with the goal of completing a triathlon (my one and only "official" race prior to that was the "Centerville half mile fun run" when I was about 8) In that following year I lost nearly 50 lbs, completed the triathlon, numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, bike races, and really started to lean towards running over the other two (though I still cross train with both).

I grew up hiking and riding horses in the mountains, so I've been drawn to take my running to the trails - and haven't looked back! I run them every chance I get, which is about 90% of the time!

12 miles - Dimple Dell lower and upper gully to the Bell Canyon trail head with Scott and Jun. Nice, easy pace going up to the top, where we stopped for a few minutes to chat and eat a little. So nice to be running in shorts and a t-shirt. Started at a decent clip down, then really picked up the pace on the last 3 or so miles. I figured as long as Craig was on my shoulder that I'd keep the pace up, thinking if he slowed down I would too. :) Ended up with 3 miles in the 7's at the end of the run. Had to run a little past the car and back to hit 12. Was plenty tired at the end, but felt fine after a few minutes. Ran into about every kind of trail - dry, wet, muddy, slushy (Slurpee), hardpacked snow, ice, and slippery. Did I miss anything? :) Great run with the guys, perfect weather!

Nice! You're getting a lot of good trail runs in during the winter.

So true. Last year at this time I as running primarily on the roads. I've probably got fewer than 10 road miles in for the year. Hahaha.

Yeah, I try to hit a trail whenever I possibly can - microspikes really helped with that in the dead of winter. It made me curious, so I checked my miles-I think I only have about 30 this year on roads.

That was so fun. Way to push the pace at the end. Sorry for the obscene gestures at the end. Ha.

Are you guys planning any more Island runs before the race?

From jun on Tue, Mar 01, 2011 at 21:56:06 from 97.126.239.167

JD, we are planning to go out there this Saturday. Unfortunately, neither Dorsimus or I can get to the island until about noon as we have to work that morning. If you can make it out there for an afternoon run though we'd love to have you come out and pound trails with us. We are planning on running about 25 miles. If you are interested and can make it send me or Matt a private message and we'll get you our phone numbers and the details.

Thanks Jun. I'll be in touch.

Matt, I thought you were going to run yesterday (Wed)? What happened?

From Dorsimus on Thu, Mar 03, 2011 at 13:05:22 from 66.239.250.209

Seriously Jun? You have a short memory. Remember - 22 miles between Mon and Tues, so Wed was a rest day. Hope to run a little today to shake things up...

Right. Hopefully the rain will stop for you today.
